Laurynas Stuoka-Gucevičius Square and its musical fountain

Squares

The square has long been a place of market and trade. It is named after the famous architect Laurynas Gucevičius, who was born in Kupiškis district, Migoniai village, and who also designed Vilnius Cathedral. The square, together with the musical fountain was reconstructed in 2019. The musical fountain is a modern architectural, engineering structure and a piece of art that combines water, light and music effects. During the show or the “performance” of the fountain, the water stream rises up to 8 meters. Heights of the stream and colors of the lighting change according to the musical piece being played. The fountain attracts many tourists and residents for its beauty and extraordinary plasticity of the water. During the main winter holidays, the square becomes the center of attraction, because of the Christmas Tree in Kupiškis, Santa's residence and the great chance to taste the products of local bakers.
