A series of events dedicated to the 225th anniversary of the birth of Motiejus Valančius
We invite everyone to come to Skapiškis on August 9 and together make sense of the legacy of the outstanding national awakening figure, educator, and bishop Motiejus Valančius, his activities, and close historical connections with the Skapiškis region.
CELEBRATION PROGRAM:
In Skapiškis St. Hyacinth (Jack) Church:
11:30 – 12:00 Lecture “M. Valančius – not only the bishop of Samogitia” (lecturer Roma Bugailiškienė).
12:15 – 1:30 p.m. St. Lawrence Indulgence Mass.
In the square of Skapiškis town:
1:50 PM – 4:00 PM Local crafts fair and warm, community-based refreshments.
3:15 PM – 3:45 PM: Concert program by Roberts Rutkauskas.
In the Skapiškis branch of the Kupiškis Cultural Center:
2:00 PM – 3:15 PM “Valančius's World: Music and Word” – excerpts from M. Valančius's work “Palangos Juzė” and a musical program by Arsenii Esaulkov.
Exhibition and entertainment:
Throughout the event, the exhibition "Motiejus Valančius" (curated by Roma Bugailiškienė) will be open at the Skapiškis branch.
There will be entertainment for children (trampolines) throughout the festival!
