Although Mr. Jonas Žurauskis, who built this huge, almost 900 square meter residential house, was famous for his tough character and cruel treatment of servants, he did not build an office or separate buildings for servants, but housed them in the eastern wing. The large room was the servants' dining room and resting place. Currently, only wooden shelves on the inner part of the wall have survived.
Ornate double doors lead to the girls' living quarters, which are located in rooms along the road. The rooms are walk-through. The most valuable thing that has survived is a very rare turquoise-colored brick stove in Lithuania, which is decorated with toothed ornaments. The ornaments also include brass corner reinforcement details for the bricks. You won't see such things often.
On the other side of the wing, the gentleman settled the boys. They were supposed to light the stoves, but it was impossible to get to the girls, because there was no door connecting these rooms...
The manor kitchen (kitchen) is mostly occupied by a bread oven. The coziest place in it is a covered area for warm relaxation. Next to the bread oven with two holes for pots, there are two more stoves for cooking food. There are plenty of kitchen utensils (pots, saucepans, sieves, butter churns, mortars, pestles, jugs and small pots (one even with wheels!), bread baking tins, ladles, whisks, even a rake standing in the corner. You will find a beer keg, huge bottles of wine, and a honey jar (the manor had a large apiary). In the gaspadorius corner, there are horse saddles that need to be repaired, a basket that has been started to be woven, and a two-stroke saw. You will even find a book with tips on how to exterminate wolves on the table.
The windows, as was customary in Lithuania at the time, are decorated with cut curtains (they were donated to the manor by a certified folk craftswoman from Utena, Odeta Bražėnienė). But we also see local women's embroidered bread basket covers, tablecloths, woven towels, crocheted napkins, and cushions - women have always cherished beauty and created coziness in the home.
